Sunshine Yoga opened its doors in Gorgie, Edinburgh in 2016, founded by Stephanie ‘Sunshine Yogini’. With her partner Matt they began teaching students in Edinburgh. Having studied yoga since her teens, Stephanie was inspired to ditch her office job and take an intensive Ashtanga and Vinyasa teacher training course in India with Sampoorna Yoga.

After the birth of their child in 2018, Stephanie and Matt decided to tackle the amount of plastic in their city by setting up social enterprise The Eco Larder on Morriston Street in Edinburgh’s Haymarket. With a huge space out back ready to be renovated, this naturally became the new home for Sunshine Yoga in 2019.

The Ultimate Yoga Studio

Sunshine Yoga believe they’ve created the ultimate yoga studio in their new home, with wooden floors and plenty of natural light. Their studio is active within the local community and works with other businesses to help support an ethical network around the city. The studio was built with love and they take great joy in sharing their space with students and teachers.

Edinburgh’s Most Talented Teachers

There are twelve teachers leading classes at Sunshine Yoga, and the studio believes they’re the best the city has to offer. The classes mostly vary between Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow with a little Forrest yoga and an occasional Yin class. All classes are currently suspended due to coronavirus restrictions, however Matt offers a Sunday morning practice via Zoom which is run as pay what you can afford.

Class prices usually start at £10 for a drop in with class packages available for frequent students.

Teacher Training and Mentorship

The studio offers the Chandra 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, certified through Yoga Alliance International. While the training is currently paused, they are hoping to start up again in 2021. The course runs a full month and prices begin at £2100 with accommodation and catering packages ranging from £900 to £1500. They also offer the Chandra Mentorship Program after you have qualified which supports you as a new teacher. Prices begin at £300.
