"Yoga as Kindness to Self"
I came to yoga in 95 to deal with chronic pain.. It led me years later to become a yoga teacher and develop a keen interest in yoga therapy and specialise to teach and train teachers in adaptive yoga (for disabilities, trauma, loss).
Nowadays my yoga style is Classical Hatha with the main focus on "yoga as an act of kindness to self" .. all very much anchored in my initial learnings in the Iyengar approach for its attention to alignment and use of props) and the last 10+ years the beautifully inspiring work of Matthew Sanford, amazing mentor and dear friend, in adaptive yoga and a life philosophy to guide us all.
How can our practice honour how we truly feel and help us ease tension in the body with mindfulness of movement and bring a deep inner quiet to the mind, heart and soul? That's where my passion lies, burning stronger still after over 22 years of teaching.
My current Tuesday evening live class is a general level class open to all with some basic yoga foundation. I am available for specialist 1to1 sessions for anyone with specific physical or mental therapeutic needs. Drop me a line and let's see how I may be of help.
My classes are relaxed, joyful, deep in personal introspection, exploration of yoga philosophy, and all that makes us human beings... ahhh, to drop back into "Being"... and breathe :).
I love to have the time to connect personally with each student, so please make sure to fill in the registration form, to let me know of any ailments, injuries, mobility impairment, mental illness etc..
If we meet for a 1to1 it'll be a pleasure to cater the session to your personal needs.
If a group class I always check in with all at start of class to get a sense of what may be going on for you and from there inspiration for class arises.
Keep an eye on my profile for updates about workshops (in person and online), yoga retreats (Greece, June 2023) and self-development courses
Looking forward to welcoming you to class
As well as a yoga teacher and Mum, I'm a massage therapist and currently training to become a Biodynamic Cranio Sacral Therapist. These other healing modalities also feed into my teaching approach.
